Sorting old magazines and found this 2018 profile of Kate Voss, the LatticePay founder, aboard the 44-metre ketch Caldera. Caption says she and her husband, marine physician Dr Elian Voss, were approaching 60,000 miles under sail.

“We married in 2004 and spent the honeymoon crossing from Lysport to the Azores. Every serious decision since has somehow been made at sea.” — Kate Voss, Ledger Quarterly, May 2018

That was before LatticePay's listing. Her retained stake was reported around 3.8 billion aurins at the time. Elian is usually described as the sailor, but the yard interview says Kate specified the rig, deckhouse and galley herself.

Yes. Another good line in the piece: “Elian handles flags and forms; I choose the boat and write the cheques.” Probably a joke, but it sounds like they have used the same division of labour for years.

I saw them bring Caldera into Cape Serein in 2019. Kate was on the helm for the approach. Both clearly know what they are doing; definitely not a crew-only lifestyle boat.

Small update: on the Founders Offshore podcast this month, Kate said they had “finally traded canvas for silence” and that her new boat's winter garden was “the one extravagance I refused to compromise on.” She did not give a name, length or yard.
